Turning around, I detected water dripping from the ceiling, directly below where our bathtub is upstairs. Shortly after the bath water ran I heard a faint “ping” sound. As I was cleaning up the dishes, my husband took the kids upstairs to bathe. Just a few weeks ago, we had company over for a Christmas dinner. It seems sometimes that life is just an endless cycle of things going from bad to worse. Isn’t that true in real life? If you are a parent I KNOW you can relate to this story. As the poor man in the story soon finds, things can ALWAYS be worse. With boundless children, animals, noise and chaos (raise your hand if that sounds like your house!) it seems as though things really couldn’t be any worse. Ever caught yourself thinking that? I know I have! This Caldecott Honor Book from 1976 by Margot Zemach spins a tale of complete hysteria inside a teensy-tiny home.
